Improving on Follow up calls

Currently doing follow up call. I've made quite a number of mistakes. It's still pretty much trial & error for me but I'm reading up some articles to improve my 'cold-calling' skills. here's a few articles:

The things I need to remember are:
  • Ask for permission to talk
  • Promise to be brief.
  • Ask when will be a good time to call back
  • Get To The Point
  • Keep a smile
  • Explain why you are calling - Tell the prospective buyer why I am calling from the onset, but frame it in their best interest.
  • Prepare what needs to be said before making the call
  • Best times to call are Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday morning.
